Emma Phillips

Investment Partner

Emma is passionate about B2B software with applied AI, with a particular interest in future of work, business automation, and solutions tackling climate change.

Companies she’s led investments in or supported include: Field Energy, Justworks, Envoy, &Open, Rodeo, Pento (acq. by Hibob), and Otta (acq. by Welcome to the Jungle).

I’m drawn to founders from non-traditional backgrounds, who truly understand their customers, obsess over what they need, and live and breathe the problem they’re solving.

Emma joined initially as an operating partner, where she supported founders on the operations, talent and go-to-market sides of their business. Previously she was a technical coordinator at Veolia Environmental Services working on a range of projects within renewable energy and recycling, and helped launch the company’s operations in Australia’s mining industry. She holds an MSc in environmental chemistry.

Having helped build a number of businesses, I love getting into the weeds with founders and their teams from day one; whether that’s support on hiring, finding early customers, hacking go-to-market strategies together, or gritting it out through the tough times.

Away from day-to-day investing, Emma co-founded Meals for the NHS during the first phase of the pandemic. The team raised over £1.8 million to deliver more than 300,000 meals from independent restaurants to NHS workers in 146 hospitals over a 100 day period.
