Rachel leads on our foundation, Phoenix Court Works.
She focuses on developing partnerships in Somers Town, Camden and New Palo Alto, investing in the areas of health & wellbeing, education & inclusion, and climate & environment.
She joined the team initially as General Manager of Phoenix Court when it was still a building site, and went on to oversee its launch, running a programme of over 100 events in the venue’s first 12 months. During her time, Rachel has developed deep relationships with many of our Somers Town neighbours, and takes the time to understand how we can most effectively partner with local organisations.
She has been involved in the Foundation from the beginning, when Phoenix Court Works made its first financial commitment to the Camden Mobile Food Bank in April 2020, and has since helped oversee partnerships with tens of organisations. Rachel is also a Trustee at Somers Town Community Association.
Growing up living above a pub means hospitality is in my blood. I’m passionate about people, and my background gives me the ability to build authentic relationships with a range of organisations from grassroots charities to portfolio companies. I love to bring my creativity to projects when working within the local community and beyond.
Previously, Rachel worked in hospitality. She was Head of Events and Café Manager at Good & Proper Tea, a speciality tea supplier based in London, and launched their first cafe, as well as organising and managing pop-up events at festivals and street food markets around the UK. Anyone who has visited Phoenix Court can’t fail to be impressed by the range of teas available.
Rachel has a Foundation degree in Art and Design, and a BA in Graphic Design from Loughborough University. She recently completed a course at LSE on Social Entrepreneurship, which she hopes will help her further support the social entrepreneurs we partner with through Phoenix Court Works.
