A serial entrepreneur, operator and investor with nearly 30 years experience building and exiting companies in the US, Israel and Europe, Saul is co-founder and Managing Partner.
One of the best known figures in European technology, he has a passion for working with seed and early stage founders and investors, and the positive impact that technology can have on society.
Whether it’s the physical design of our space, or our open dealflow meetings to which outside guests, uniquely, are invited, or the transparent way we communicate with our investors and the local community, openness is one of our hallmarks as a firm.
Previously, Saul was a General Partner at Index Ventures from 2007 until May 2015. In 2012, then-PM David Cameron appointed him to be the UK's first Technology Business Ambassador to Israel, and in 2016 he was awarded an OBE for services to Business.
Saul is a member of The Council for Science and Technology, which advises the Prime Minister on science and technology policy issues across government, as well as Non Executive Director on the newly appointed Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) Start-Up Board.
Saul is also a member of Camden's Economic Renewal Commission, and until recently served as a trustee of Comic Relief.
Saul co-founded Platoon (acq. by Apple in 2018), Zinc (co-founded with the LSE) and Seedcamp (seed investors in UiPath and Revolut). He was also co-founder and original CEO of Lovefilm (acq. by Amazon in 2011).
Being here, in Somers Town, is incredibly important to us, not just because it's at the epicentre of this exceptional innovation ecosystem, but because we have an opportunity to play a constructive role in this neighbourhood.
He was also part of the original executive team at Skype (acq. by eBay in 2005). In a previous life, he created the role of Chief Privacy Officer at Microsoft, having exited Firefly (a spin-out from the MIT Media Lab) to Microsoft in 1997. In 1994, he helped to put the Daily Telegraph online, a week before the San Jose Mercury News.
