Terrence is a San Francisco-based investor, board member and advisor. He advises the team on Basecamp and the US ecosystem.
Over the course of his career, Terrence has invested in 75+ companies, co-created 3 early stage funds, and is an early investor in companies such as Figma, Front, Notion, Patreon, Robinhood and Vanta.
Terrence began investing in 2010, when he joined Index Ventures, co-creating and later managing Index’s seed fund. In 2015, he became the General Partner and co-founder of the firm’s ‘decentralized’ Angel Fund. Empowering founders to be investors, this Angel Fund was a pioneer in the ‘founder-investing-in-founders’ movement.
In 2017 he spun out of Index to start the Otherwise Fund, which further innovates on the ‘founder-investing-in-founders’ model. As the Managing Director of Otherwise, Terrence is an active multi-stage Angel investor, with a passion for supporting founders at their earliest stages.
Prior to investing, Terrence worked in product development and marketing for Google and YouTube.
Terrence holds a BA in Philosophy from Colgate University, a MS in Philosophy from the London School of Economics, and an MS in Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
